In a digital world with highly influential Millennials and increasing transparency, employees are expecting an engaging, productive and enjoyable work experience.

Flexible workplace is a REAL advantage:

2016 Gallup survey, showed that 37% of employees said that they would take another job only if it would allow them - at least part of the time - to work from where they want, while 51% would actually move to another place if it had more flexibility in terms of the working hours. Employees are seeking a more flexible working environment and if in 2018 you will not offer that, you will lose talents to your competitors who are.

Offering remote work options and flexible working hours are more possible now, thanks to the technology. Ensuring employees’ are productive is not by watching them working anymore as having group chat tools, smartphones, project management tools, CRM software and video conferencing make our work life much easier.

Artificial Intelligence (AI):

In the upcoming years, almost every new service/device will have AI embedded in it. Millennials were asked by the World Economic Forum “Global Shapers Study”, what is the next big globally technology trend, almost a third claimed it will be the AI. In 2018, the chatbots will continue to permeate, these programs are fueled by AI their function is to facilitate text conversations. The efficiencies received by their usage are in excess of 30%; these chatbots are expected to save companies in salary expenditures over $79 million. Companies that have already deployed chatbots in their workplace are about 20%, where by 2021 they will reach 51%. They are used by organizations to answer employees’ questions, recovering product information, data mining, as personal assistants, for on-demand customer support and streamline business processes.

Prioritizing Mental wellness:

When employees stress out, it will not only affect their productivity, but their job satisfaction as well. According to Northwestern mutual reports, more than a quarter of Millennials claimed that their performance was affected by their financial stresses; they also made them feel physically ill and depressed. Annually, an average of six productive workdays are lost because of some financial concerns that employees have. Nowadays, mental health is being more common and easily accepted by leaders, where it was believed to be a stigma in the workplace. In the U.S., symptoms like depression annually resulting in $17 to $44 billion in overall lost productivity, costing $200 million lost workdays, and 11.5 days of reduced productivity/3 months.

These issues are very easy to treat, so it is advised that employers support their employees seeking help. By considering in their policies to support emotional treatment and wellness and give employees time from their business hours to make sure they can perform at their best.

Applying these concepts will positively reflect on the workforce wellbeing and productivity directly affecting the overall organizational success.
